Job summary

The Lovett School in Atlanta, GA seeks a part-time Conservatory of Music Instructor for the 2026-2027 year. This on-site role involves one-on-one instruction across K–12, collaboration with ensemble directors, and supporting school concerts.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor of Music (Master’s preferred), have two years of private teaching, strong communication skills, and comfort with technology for in-person or virtual lessons, with a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Music Degree or significant professional playing experience; Master’s preferred.
• Two years of private instruction or teaching younger students (K-8) and/or high school musicians (9-12).
• Excellent communication skills; ability to explain musical concepts clearly to students, parents, and colleagues.
• Comfort with technology to teach in-person and virtually.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instruction across K–12, meeting students at their level and guiding them toward goals.
• Assess abilities and create individualized lesson plans.
• Foster a love of music while building technique and musicianship.
• Prepare advanced students for collegiate-level performance, auditions, and competitions.
• Collaborate with ensemble directors to align lesson content with ensemble curriculum.
• Support student participation in school concerts, recitals, and performances.
• Participate in Conservatory meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development.
• Adapt to Lovett's rotating schedule and offer flexible lesson times.
