Job summary

Historic New England seeks a museum teacher to deliver school and youth programs at the Pierce House in Dorchester and Quincy House in Quincy. The role focuses on interactive, hands-on history learning for pre-school and elementary students within the Boston area.

Responsibilities include team-teaching, opening/closing museums, managing program supplies, collecting attendance, and supporting the School & Youth Program Manager with administrative tasks. Part-time hours (3.5-20/wk).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in American history, education, museum studies or relevant field.
• Experience working with children is required.
• Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in all responsibilities and activities.
• Ability to drive and a valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Team teach school and youth programs at Historic New England house museums in the Boston area.
• Conduct outreach programs at schools and youth organizations in the Greater Boston area.
• Provide interactive, hands-on learning experiences for pre-school and elementary students.
• Open and close museums, clean museums, set up and break down programs.
• Receive program monies and evaluations and report daily attendance numbers.
• Assist the School & Youth Program Manager with administrative duties and stocking supplies.
