Job summary

National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund Inc. in Washington, DC seeks a part-time Collections Database Manager to support a grant-funded data migration project.

You will migrate data from the old database to a new system, link images to records, and create new images via scanning or photography. The role requires a Master’s in Museum Studies or a related field, at least two years in registration and collections management, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Museum Studies or relevant subject area.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in registration and collections management work.
• Working knowledge in museum management principles and practices; general administrative principles, practices, and methods
• Experience in archival scanning and object photography
• Experience with TMS collections database strongly preferred
• Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills
• Strong knowledge of museum legal and ethical issues
• Proven ability to forge mutually respectful, trusting, and effective relationships with a diverse group of staff, Board members, community leaders, and decision makers
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain balance and perspective and a proactive “can do” attitude that can motivate others

Responsibilities

• Migrate data from the old database to the new system.
• Link collections images to records in the new database.
• Create new images through scanning or photography where needed.
• Provide weekly and quarterly metrics on project progress.
• Assist the Director of Exhibits and Collections in presenting results.
