City of Florence is seeking a Part Time Associate Judge in Florence, SC. The judge will preside over pre-trials, bench trials, jury trials, and bond hearings, and will decide probable cause for arrest and search warrants.

The role includes reopening cases, signing off warrants and tickets, and remaining available to the Police Department for emergency warrants and bond hearings. The position requires a law degree and relevant legal experience, with the city committed to equal employment

Qualificações

• Law degree required, relevant law enforcement, court or legal experience preferred

Responsabilidades

• Presiding at pre-trials, bench trials, jury trials, and bond hearings
• Deciding probable cause for arrest warrants and search warrants for signing
• Re-opening cases when necessary and re-trying
• Signing off disposed tickets and warrants
• Talking with the public; available to Police Department for emergency warrants, releases, and bond hearings
• Analyzing and interpreting memoranda pertaining to South Carolina laws and ethics on court procedures
• Attending continuous legal education
• Preparing legal documents such as appeals, returns, orders, etc.
