Job summary

The City of Plantation is seeking a part-time grounds maintenance worker to perform manual labor in the maintenance of city parks and tennis courts. Duties include mowing, trimming, planting, and general landscaping under city supervision.

The role is non-exempt and requires flexibility to work evenings, holidays and weekends, with about 24 hours per week. Prior experience in grounds maintenance is preferred, and a Florida driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 6 months experience in ground, street, and landscape maintenance.
• Able to perform heavy manual labor and operate hand tools and equipment safely.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Sprays foliage, lawns and sport fields for weed and pest control.
• Cuts and edges grass with hand tools and power-operated machines.
• Trims and fertilizes trees, shrubbery, lawns and sport fields as needed.
• Cleans grounds, removes debris, weeds and leaves from property.
• Performs general maintenance of municipal buildings and property.
