Job summary

City of Plantation, Florida is seeking a part-time grounds maintenance worker to perform a range of tasks including lawn care, landscaping, and field maintenance for municipal facilities.

The role involves heavy manual labor, operating hand and power tools, and working a flexible schedule with evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed. A valid Florida driver’s license and background screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 6 months of experience in grounds, street, and/or landscape maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic safety practices and ability to operate manual tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Sprays foliage, lawns and sport fields for weed and pest control.
• Cuts and edges grass with hand tools and powered equipment.
• Installs trees and shrubbery to maintain landscaping throughout the city.
• Trims and fertilizes trees, shrubbery, lawns and sport fields as needed.
• Cleans grounds and removes dirt, rubbish, weeds, leaves and other refuse.
• Prunes trees to eliminate hazards and preserve beauty of trees on municipal property.
• Assists with concrete work, signs installation, and maintenance of sidewalks and streets.
• Digs, grades, and sets forms for concrete work; operates basic maintenance equipment.
• Lines playing fields and maintains landscaped areas of sports fields.
• Repairs and maintains playground equipment.
