Responsibilities

• Provide faith-based guidance and pastoral care to prisoners, staff and families, liaising with the Faith and Belief Adviser.
• Plan and lead worship, meditation, prayer and faith-based meetings; ensure ongoing chaplaincy cover.
• Facilitate worship, study and religious programs; work with chaplains, volunteers and external groups.
• Contribute to local policy and practice development.
• Provide pastoral care and crisis support; mentor other chaplains and volunteers.
• Mentor chaplaincy volunteers.
• Coordinate with the Official Prison Visitor liaison to promote schemes.
• Promote faith events and distribute literature and materials.
• Assist in staff and volunteer training including Faith Awareness Training.
• Represent the chaplaincy team at meetings and committees.
• Support ACCT processes.
• Attend boards and meetings, contributing as chair or team member.
• Take on additional roles as required.
• Forge links with local faith communities and other agencies.
• Develop ways to improve targets and collect data.
• Assist in Probation Approved Premises and community sentences as required.
