Job summary

The Archdiocese of Hartford seeks a part-time Middle School Spanish Teacher for St. Rita School to foster a love of language and Catholic values among grades 6–8.

You will build engaging lessons that prepare students for high school language study and participate in faith-based school life. The ideal candidate holds a 4-year degree in Spanish or related field with state World Languages certification and prior middle school teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, Secondary Education, or a related field.
• Valid State Teaching Certification in World Languages (Spanish) or eligibility for diocesan certification preferred.
• Previous experience teaching middle school or adolescent learners is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create a supportive, faith-filled, and academically rigorous classroom environment.
• Teach Spanish to students in grades 6 through 8 and prepare them for high school-level language study.
• Integrate Catholic values and teachings into daily instruction.
• Lead students in daily prayer, participate in school liturgies, and support campus ministry and service-learning initiatives.
• Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with diocesan standards.
• Focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing using communicative and immersion-based techniques.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and accommodations.
• Establish clear expectations, routines, and positive reinforcement for a structured, safe learning environment.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain regular, professional communication with parents via school portal, email, and conferences.
• Collaborate with middle school team members, PLCs, and administration to support student success.

Education
