CMHA-CEI in Lansing, MI seeks a Mental Health Worker to provide support during acute crises. You will assist clinicians, engage with adults with mental health, substance use, or developmental disabilities, and ensure a safe environment aligned with treatment plans.

Under the supervision of a Coordinator or Supervisor, provides a supportive atmosphere for consumers experiencing acute mental health crisis needing stabilization. Provides assistance to therapist and nurse, interacts with consumers experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders and Developmental Disabilities who are in crisis, needing stabilization. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers experiencing behavioral health crisis in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for maintaining a secure environment. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI's mission, policies and procedures.
Possession of high school diploma or a G.E.D. required. A minimum of 1 year of experience working with consumers experiencing mental health crisis required.
Must be able to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards. Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license. Access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use required. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form is required. Ability to process extensive documentation is required. Ability to problem-solve crisis situations, de-escalate behavioral health crisis and provide crisis intervention with consumers both individually and in group meetings required. Other requirements needed for this classification will depend upon the area of assignment and program need.
Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
$19.85 - $22.23 hourly.
+ $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm - 12am | + $2/hour for hours worked 12am - 8am | + $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm - Monday 8am.
Saturday 7pm-7:30am, Sunday 7pm-7:30am
