Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Farmington Hills, MI is seeking a part-time Medical Support Assistant for the Ear Institute. Under direct supervision, you will greet patients, escort them to exam rooms, obtain medical histories, measure vital signs, and assist the provider during examinations or procedures.

Required or preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and strong interpersonal communication. BLS-C certification is required by orientation end date.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year related experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
• Ability to perform clinical skills related to ambulatory care preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patient to room and prepare patient for examination, procedure, and treatment.
• Obtain vital signs.
• Obtain and record patient history employing critical thinking skills.
• Prepare for, set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Monitor and respond timely to patient requests via telephone encounter, In Basket message and/or My Chart according to identified time frames.
• Discharge patient providing after visit instructions to patient and/or caregiver as directed by the provider.
