Job summary

Virtua Health in Hammonton is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support clinical providers by obtaining vital signs, histories and chief complaints, and by performing phlebotomy, vaccines, and basic in-clinic testing.

The role requires 0–2 years in a medical office, HS diploma, and MA certification; DE certification within 1 year is preferred. Includes competitive benefits and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred.
• Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant; DE state certification within 1 year if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining vital signs, history, and chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection; vaccines and documentation as directed.
• Performs diagnostic tests (e.g., EKG, PFT) under physician supervision.
• Screens and directs patient calls per protocol; communicates results to patients.
• Maintains regulatory testing and ensures clinical equipment accuracy and compliance.
• Registers patients, handles billing and appointment scheduling as needed.

Summary

Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint.

Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
• Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
• Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
• Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
• Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
• Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education

HS diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire.

BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20. The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
