Job summary

Virtua Health in Hammonton, NJ, is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support clinical providers with examinations, document vitals and medical history, and assist with vaccines and tests. The role includes patient communication and front desk duties, under physician supervision.

Required HS diploma or equivalent and MA certification; 0–2 years in a medical office preferred; BLS certification required; DE certification within 1 year of hire. Competitive hourly pay offered.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant; BLS certification required; DE certification within 1 year of hire.
  • 0–2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaint; prepares exam room.
  • Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens; administers vaccines and completes required documentation.
  • Performs diagnostics tests such as EKG and pulmonary function as directed under physician supervision.
  • Screens and directs patient calls; communicates prescriptions and test results as directed.
  • Maintains regulatory testing and ensures clinical equipment accuracy.
  • Performs front desk duties such as patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.

Job Information.

Summary: Prepares patient and assists clinical provider with patient examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, past medical history, social history and chief complaint. Performs various clinical tasks within the scope of their certification and under the supervision of the physician.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Prepares patient for exam by obtaining and documenting vital signs, and chief complaint, and preparing patient for provider exam. Prepares exam room as required based on chief complaint.
  • Performs phlebotomy and obtains specimens for processing. Administers vaccines and completes required documentation. Performs diagnostic tests such as EKG, Pulmonary Function, etc. as directed and under the supervision of the physician.
  • Screens and directs patient calls according to established protocol. Contacts patients regarding prescriptions and testing results as directed by and under the supervision of the physician.
  • Performs daily regulatory testing as required and documents accordingly, to ensure that clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
  • Maintains par level of clinical supplies for facility.
  • Performs front desk duties as directed which may include registering patients, billing, and appointment scheduling.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required.

0-2 years of similar job experience in a medical office preferred.

Required Education.

HS diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.

Training/Certifications/Licensure.

Current certification/registration as a Medical Assistant. In the state of DE, certification is required within 1 year of hire. BLS Certification required.

Hourly Rate.

$19.54 - $29.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
