Job summary

Health Imperatives is seeking a part-time Program Assistant/Medical Assistant for Nantucket Sexual and Reproductive Health Services. This role supports welcoming patient reception, intake, and navigation across reproductive health services in a clinic setting on Nantucket.

The position requires a high school diploma, flexibility for evenings/weekends, strong organizational skills, and a valid driver’s license. Bilingual Spanish is preferred to serve a diverse community in Southeast Massachusetts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; ability to maintain flexible schedule including some evenings and/or occasional weekends.
• Strong organizational skills; high level of cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with a welcoming reception and schedule patient appointments according to established protocol.
• Room patients and obtain and record client’s personal medical history including gynecological, obstetrical and sexual history.
• Perform clerical duties including checking patients in and out of appointments, verifying health insurance eligibility, answering calls and checking voicemails, preparing superbills, and restocking clinic supplies.
• Provide clients with non-judgmental and accurate information regarding reproductive health issues, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, Hepatitis, pregnancy options, and pregnancy prevention.
• Provide service navigation including linking patients to care, providing medical follow up, providing drug assistance support for HIV PrEP/nPEP, providing referrals for overdose education and Naloxone, medication assisted treatment, syringe services, mental health, primary care, housing, and other social services.
• Provide HIV PrEP/nPEP drug assistance and support,
• Represent Health Imperatives at relevant community gatherings, events, and meetings to promote awareness of Health Imperatives Nantucket programs and establish and expand collaborations with community partners
• Prepare and distribute educational and informational materials to community members and partner organizations.
