Job summary

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) seeks adjunct faculty in the Mathematics Department to teach undergraduate math courses on an as-needed basis. Ideal candidates are skilled educators who foster interactive, student-centered learning; for College Algebra, availability is four Thursdays each semester from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm (University hour).

Responsibilities include delivering engaging lectures, providing timely feedback, maintaining Canvas shells, and upholding grading policies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mathematics or related field.
• Experience teaching undergraduate mathematics.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three in-person classes (per semester) of lower-level mathematics such as Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry.
• Deliver engaging lectures, lead class discussions, and conduct teaching activities.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on progress and performance.
• Accurately calculate and submit grades on time, including midterm and final grades.
• Maintain Canvas shell for class activities and uphold grading policies.
