Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Faculty position in the Department of Mathematics. Instructors deliver instruction in mathematics courses, coordinate materials, and maintain attendance and grades in accordance with college policies.

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics or Statistics (or equivalent) and demonstrate strong teaching ability at the community college level.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited institution or Masters Degree with 18 hours of graduate-level coursework in mathematics.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the community college level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers instruction in topics in Mathematics.
• Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; and keeps students informed about their progress through prompt grading.
• Develops curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention; and assists students with course-related problems outside the classroom.
• Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations.
• Attends faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development and orientation activities.
• Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature and participating in professional activities.
• Participates in departmental and college committees; provides outreach service to the community.
