Job summary

The University of the District of Columbia’s Workforce Development (UDC-WDLL) is seeking a part-time, temporary Teacher Assistant to support the Lead Instructor in delivering a grant-based training program that emphasizes a strong Mathematics focus for adult learners.

You will help plan and deliver lessons, engage students, review work, and assist with attendance and records. This role requires a proven math teaching ability and flexibility for non-traditional education settings.

Qualifications

• Teaching certification or associate’s degree in education or mathematics.
• At least three years of prior teaching experience, preferably in Mathematics.
• Experience teaching adult workforce development and/or non-traditional education preferred.
• Understanding of pedagogical best practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Instructor with curriculum development, classroom setup, and logistics.
• Review lessons and assignments with students in one-on-one or small groups.
• Support students in class, between classes, and during events.
• Track attendance, grade assignments, and maintain student records.
• Provide accommodations or refer students needing help as directed.
• Monitor classroom policies and enforce regulations.
• Deliver lessons using varied teaching styles and engaging assignments.
• Attend required meetings and student orientation sessions.
