Job summary

Saginaw Valley State University is seeking a Professional Tutor for the Math and Physics Learning Center. This part-time role involves tutoring students in Math, Physics, and Statistics, both in-person and online, and supervising student tutors when coordinators are not on duty.

Applicants should hold a math or physics degree with strong calculus, algebra, and physics fundamentals, and be able to learn statistics and software quickly. Some remote duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics with substantial coursework in physics or a physics degree with substantial mathematics coursework.
• Strong algebra, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, mechanics, and electricity/magnetism knowledge.
• Ability to quickly learn statistics, geometry, and mathematical software packages.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in-person and online in Math, Physics, and Statistics.
• Supervise student tutors when coordinators are not on duty.
• Assist coordinators in creating materials for webpages or workshops.
• Assist students with questions regarding Center services.
