Job summary

NIHAO Chinese in Southern California is seeking enthusiastic Mandarin teaching assistants to join our afterschool programs serving preschool to older students. The role involves supporting classes, collaborating with teachers, and helping maintain a positive learning environment.

Part-time position (25-30 hours per week, afternoons) with opportunities to create mini-lessons aligned to our blended curriculum and to communicate with parents and school staff using educational tools.

Qualifications

• Native Mandarin speaker with English proficiency.
• Strong problem-solving and the ability to analyze and solve challenges with young learners.
• Familiarity with education software and Google Suite is a plus.
• Excellent multitasking abilities balancing responsibilities with children.
• Preference for at least 1 year of experience in afterschool program settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist children with class activities.
• Support teachers with students from diverse language backgrounds and skill levels.
• Manage a small group of students and direct them in activities.
• Display enthusiasm, understanding, and commitment to positive experiences for children.
• Assist teacher with classroom cleaning and play area supervision.
• Develop mini-lessons integrated into the main curriculum.
• Communicate with parents and school personnel in person and via email.
• Collaborate with educators and curriculum specialists, sharing ideas and providing feedback.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
