Job summary

Fllib in Fox Lake, IL seeks a Part-Time Maintenance Technician to perform janitorial, room setup, and minor maintenance of the library building and grounds, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons and staff.

The role reports to the Facility Manager and requires ability to inspect systems, assist with light carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical tasks, and manage cleaning supplies. Work spans days, evenings, and weekends; wage is $17.00 per hour for 16–18 hours weekly.

Part-Time Maintenance Technician

Position Overview: Under the administration of the Facility Manager. The Maintenance Technician is expected to perform janitorial, room set-up, and minor maintenance of the library building and the grounds to ensure the comfortable, clean, convenient, and safe operation of the library for both its patrons and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs regular and routine inspection and preventative maintenance of the Library's building systems, and promptly notifies the Facility Manager when major repairs or maintenance work is needed
• Assists Manager in minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, and plumbing repairs
• Maintains inventory of all cleaning and building supplies
• Performs year-round upkeep of the library grounds through pickup of litter, light shoveling of snow, salting of walks, and care of shrubbery and plants
• Performs regular janitorial duties including but not limited to mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and window cleaning
• Performs routine upkeep of library furnishings and arrangement, and meeting room setup
• Delivers supplies and materials to offices
• Any other assigned tasks not herein defined but necessary for the operation of the building

Requirements:

• Experience in interior and exterior maintenance including but not limited to landscape, mechanical, janitorial, and handyman services
• Must be able to establish and maintain a cordial work climate with staff and public
• Must maintain discretion and confidentiality when necessary

• Must be able to communicate effectively

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous work experience in Maintenance or Landscape preferred
