Job summary

Universal Storage Group is seeking a part-time Maintenance Person to oversee upkeep at Best Choice Self Storage facilities in California. The role covers light maintenance across two sites, with up to 24 hours per week, in a fast-paced retail setting.

You will greet customers, assist with unit sizing, clean units, keep facilities tidy, cut locks, paint, and prepare units for auctions per procedure. Hours are Monday–Friday 9:00am–6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am–5:00pm, with flexible work days.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Successful background check required.
• Successful drug screen required.
• Attitude and aptitude testing required.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers at the facility with a smile and handshake.
• Help customers determine the best unit size before rental.
• Clean vacant units to rentable condition.
• Ensure grounds, office, and bathrooms are clean and presentable.
• Cut locks as needed.
• Paint as required.
• Prepare auction units according to procedure and lien law.

The chosen Best Choice Self Storage Maintenance person will be responsible for the overall upkeep and light maintenance at both Best Choice Storage facilities. This part-time position has the ability to work up to 24 hours a week.

Self-Storage is a fast-paced environment. Our employees wear many hats: salesperson, customer service rep, cleaning crew, marketer and more! As a USG Maintenance Person, you will be responsible for:

• Greeting everyone at your facility with a smile and a handshake
• Helping your customers determine the best size unit before each rental
• Clean vacant units to rentable condition
• Ensuring grounds, office, and bathrooms are clean and presentable at all times
• Cutting locks
• Painting
• Preparing auction units according to procedure and lien law as needed

Our stores are retail and open Monday – Friday from 9:00am - 6:00pm and Saturday from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Work days and times are flexible.

Candidate Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands

• Employees must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Employees are frequently required to climb or balance; bend; kneel; crouch; or squat, and talk or hear. Employees are occasionally required to sit for periods of time.
