Job summary

The Ski Area Lead at Middlebury College supervises the Ski Area Associate team and supports lift operations to ensure safe, efficient service for guests.

Responsibilities include enforcing procedures, training staff, coordinating equipment maintenance, and communicating safety concerns to supervisors. The role requires strong teamwork, independent work, and availability for nights, weekends, and holidays in a winter environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and on-the-job training.
• Experience in a ski area Mountain Operations or supervisory role preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time and priorities.
• Must have driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the lift operations team.
• Ensure team members follow procedures and are properly equipped.
• Manage equipment maintenance, requests, and replacement with reporting to the Snow Bowl Manager.
• Report safety hazards, violations, and personnel issues to supervisor.
• Provide ongoing training to employees and communicate effectively with diverse staff.
• May assist with Snow Bowl and Rikert operations including base lodge, snow removal, events, and logistics.
• Perform duties safely and per Middlebury College policies.
• Assist Ski Area staff as needed.
