Job summary

Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is seeking a Student Assistant - Lifeguard to help ensure the safety of patrons at the MGA aquatic facility during pool operation months. The role is part-time and requires you to maintain vigilance, respond to emergencies, and support facility cleanliness and reporting.

Qualified applicants are MGA students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0, and must obtain Red Cross lifeguard certification and CPR/AED within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be a current enrolled Middle Georgia State University student.
• Must be enrolled in 6 or more semester hours per semester.
• Must have a GPA of 2.0 or greater.
• This position requires certification as a lifeguard by the American Red Cross within 30 days of hire.
• Must have American Red Cross CPR and AED certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility, acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
• Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
• Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
• Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by head lifeguard or Director.
