Job summary

YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a part-time Lifeguard at Southwest YMCA, Greenfield, WI. The role involves maintaining safe pool conditions, enforcing rules, and providing excellent member service. Must hold lifeguard certification (Red Cross preferred), CPR, First Aid, and AED, with ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

Required age is 15 or older. Responsibilities include monitoring zones with the 10/10 rule, performing swim tests, responding to emergencies, and completing incident

Qualifications

• Must pass an advanced swimming and rescue skills test.
• YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard certification required.
• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and communicate information effectively.
• Lift a minimum of 50 lbs and have full body movement.
• Certifications Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED must be obtained and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas.
• Prevent accidents by scanning assigned zone using the 10/10 rule.
• Perform swim tests as required by policy.
• Enforce health and safety rules and maintain emergency readiness.
• Respond to emergency situations per YMCA policies and procedures.
• Create a welcoming, nurturing and genuine environment for members and guests.
• Develop rapport and maintain relationships with members, participants and staff.
• Work collaboratively with other staff as part of a team.
• Complete incident and accident reports as necessary.
• Perform routine maintenance of pool, locker rooms and surrounding areas for cleanliness.
• Check pool and rescue equipment and promptly report problems.
• Set up and take down equipment for recreational swims.
• Participation and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings is mandatory.
• Uphold YMCA core values in interactions within facilities and community.
