Job summary

NewDay Center is seeking a counselor to assess and treat individuals, families, and children facing mental health, emotional, or substance abuse challenges. You will provide therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy, serving as a liaison with local hospitals and resources.

The role involves outpatient counseling, group activities, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team. Strong communication and group leadership skills are essential for successful client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Provide counseling to approximately 5–35 clients weekly depending on employment status.
• Conduct 3–5 comprehensive mental health and substance abuse assessments weekly.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients in outpatient programs and assist them in dealing with mental health, substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, or abuse.
• Perform 3–5 comprehensive assessments for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence and medical needs per week.
• Provide individual, couples, children and family therapy as needed for clients seeking treatment.
• Collaborate with counselors, physicians, and nurses to plan and coordinate treatment, drawing on social work experience and patient needs.
• Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress with respect to treatment goals.
• Provide early interventions and referrals to specialty mental health services as needed.
• Refer patients to community resources for housing or treatment to assist recovery and ensure service efficacy.
• Learn and lead groups based on NewDay’s curriculum and beliefs.
• Attend clinical meetings and weekly supervision.
• Other duties assigned by supervisor.

To be the face of NewDay Center to local resources, hospitals, and other sources.
