Job summary

The City of San Bernardino invites applications for a part-time Library Technician I to perform paraprofessional library tasks, including routine cataloging and circulating materials. The position primarily supports patrons at the Feldheym Central Library with occasional reassignment to branch locations.

You will help patrons check materials in/out, issue library cards, handle cash and fines, assist with computers and the library catalog, and support opening/closing procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate of Arts Degree in Library Science.
• One year of responsible paraprofessional library experience or equivalent.
• A valid State driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons at the circulation desk by checking materials in and out and issuing library cards.
• Provide information on library services, policies, and available resources.
• Help patrons locate books, materials, and navigate the library catalog.
• Process payments for fines and fees and maintain accurate records.
• Answer phones and respond to general inquiries from the public.
• Receive, sort, and organize books, media, and other library materials.
• Support inter-library loan processing and track incoming/outgoing materials.
• Maintain and update displays, bulletin boards, and library areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as assigned.
