Job summary

Cobb County Government's Mountain View Regional and Gritters Library in Marietta, GA is seeking part-time Library Technicians to assist patrons with online resources and public computers, and to provide circulation services in a busy branch.

You will shelve, process book donations, handle daily delivery of materials, and contribute to special projects under librarians' guidance, with an 18-hour week including nights and every other Saturday and Sunday shifts (1:00-5:00 pm).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction/customer service.
• Must be able to work 18 hours per week including nights and every other Saturday, plus 4 hours on Sundays (1:00-5:00 pm).

• Circulation/information services including: checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.

Job description

These part-time Library Technician positions are located at the Mountain View Regional and Gritters Library. In this customer service role, the successful candidate will assist patrons in a very busy branch with using online resources and public computers in addition to providing circulation services. They will also be assigned to assist with shelving, processing book donations, processing daily delivery of materials, and special projects under the guidance of librarians.

This position requires an 18-hour week, including nights and every other Saturday, plus four hours (1:00-5:00p) on scheduled Sundays.

Circulation/information services including: checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.

Take fines for overdue books.

Assist in keeping daily statistics.

Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months work experience involving public interaction/customer service.

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.

Sensory Requirements

Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors

Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
