Job summary

The Norton Branch Library of the Akron-Summit County Public Library is seeking a Shelver to assist with shelving, inventory, and basic clerical tasks. This casual, part-time role offers 8 to 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, at the Norton, Ohio location.

Responsibilities include sorting and returning materials, reading shelves, moving carts, and assisting with holds and service desk duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.
• Skill in customer service.
• Available to work between 8-20 hours per week, including evenings and Saturdays.
• Criminal background check required for those 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Sorts and returns library materials to their proper place on the shelves.
• Lifts, bends, and climbs as associated with shelving routines.
• Reads shelves for correctness of arrangement of materials.
• Fills and routes holds.
• Assists with opening and closing routines, as needed.
• Maintains neatness in the public service areas.
