Job summary

Mentor Public Library in Mentor, Ohio seeks a Shelver to join the Materials Management area. This part-time, grade 1 position begins at $11.00 per hour and reports to the Materials Management Manager.

Responsibilities include shelving, maintaining order, and assisting in locating materials, with attention to detail and customer service. The role may be full or part-time depending on library needs and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Ability to alphabetically and numerically file and perform simple clerical work.
• Ability to move loaded book carts weighing up to 300 pounds.
• Handle library materials up to 30 pounds.
• Physical demands include reaching, bending and squatting.
• Basic computer skills to access work email and HR/payroll software.
• Demonstrates tact and courtesy.
• Desire and ability to work as a contributing team member.
• Good judgment, attention to detail, and adaptability.
• Dependability and thoroughness.

Responsibilities

• Sort, alphabetize, shelve, and retrieve library materials.
• Read shelves for order and neatness.
• Load/unload books from carts and book drop.
• Unloads donation bin onto carts and deliver to departments.
• Shift and straighten materials as necessary.
• Assist in location and retrieval of materials as requested.
• Pull back issues of newspapers, periodicals, and serials.
• Maintain neat and orderly work area.
