Job summary

Roxbury Free Library in Roxbury, VT seeks a creative Library Director to lead with heart, vision and curiosity. The role covers planning with Trustees, collection development, programming, finances, technology, reference and readers' advisory, and staff supervision.

The position is 15 hours per week (11 open hours + 4 admin hours) with evening and weekend shifts; salary ranges from $18 to $23 per hour and town employee benefits apply.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited degree in Library and/or Information Science or Vermont Library Certification preferred.
• Candidate with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree will be considered if willing to earn Vermont Certification within two years.
• A background check is required before duties begin.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all library functions including long-term planning with Trustees.
• Manage collection development and maintenance; plan programs and services.
• Lead financial management, technology use and maintenance; supervise staff and volunteers.
• Market the library and its offerings; prepare monthly Trustee reports and annual state/federal reporting.
• Work 15 hours per week: 11 open library hours and 4 paid administrative hours; occasional heavy lifting (~30 lbs).
