Job summary

Harvard Radcliffe Institute in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a full-time Cataloger for its four-year backlog remediation project. The role focuses on advanced cataloging and metadata creation for rare materials, ensuring high-quality records in Alma and OCLC Connexion.

The candidate will collaborate across formats, refine workflows, and contribute to inclusive, community-informed description practices in special collections.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS or advanced degree with relevant, substantial research library experience.
• Three+ years in cataloging special collections, including original and complex copy cataloging.
• Experience with MARC, AACR2/ RDA, LCSH, CONSER and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform original and complex copy cataloging for rare materials and serials.
• Create and edit bibliographic and authority records in Alma and OCLC Connexion.
• Conduct subject analysis and authority work following national standards.
• Manage metadata creation and improve workflows for special collections.
• Collaborate with archives and other formats to refine cataloging practices.
