Job summary

Valley Cottage Library, a community library near NYC, seeks a dependable, friendly person to join its Circulation Department and provide high-quality customer service to 23,000 residents of the Nyack School District.

This part-time role is 7.5 hours per week with additional weekend hours, reporting to the Head of Circulation. Salary ranges from $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Three years of office or library experience, Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience with Koha ILS preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Word documents, emails and general tasks.
• Excellent customer service skills, including experience with diverse public.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing software and processes.
• Strong attention to detail and clear oral and written communication.
• Physical capability to stand, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Circulation Desk duties: check in/out materials, issue library cards, collect fines, and maintain records per library policies.
• Open and/or close the library on assigned days.
• Perform general clerical duties as needed.
