Job summary

Alamance County Public Libraries (ACPL) in Burlington, NC is hiring three Circulation Assistants for part-time, non-benefited roles. The positions involve assisting library patrons, checking in/out materials, shelving, and handling payments for fines in a busy environment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be flexible with evenings and weekends, and speak Spanish is desirable. Prior library experience is preferred, and comfort with library technology and self-checkout

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including nights and weekends, is required.
• Ability to speak Spanish is desired.
• Previous library experience is preferred.
• Prior experience with library technology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Promote ACPL’s values and mission.
• Follow and enforce established library policies and procedures.
• Work all public service desks at ACPL.
• Assist with the maintenance of library collections.
• Assist patrons through reference interactions, reader advisory inquiries and in the use of technology and online resources.
• Take responsibility for the appearance of the library, including the condition of shelves and displays.
• Answer phones and route calls to appropriate staff.
• Call and write up holds and pull messages.
