Job summary

City of Lufkin is seeking a Circulation Aide (Part Time) to support daily library operations in Lufkin, TX. You will assist with checkout, registrations, fines resolution, shelving, and customer service in a welcoming library environment.

The role includes helping with programs and outreach, plus basic clerical duties. Bilingual Spanish is preferred. The position is non-exempt and requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Some college coursework or previous library experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check materials in and out and process fines via library management software in a friendly, courteous manner.
• Assist patrons with locating materials and navigating the catalog and digital resources.
• Shelve and organize materials according to classification systems and shelving procedures.
• Maintain clean, orderly shelves and reading areas; assist with shelf reading and tidying as needed.
• Help set up and break down library programs, events, and displays; provide on-site support.
• Perform basic clerical tasks such as answering phones, photocopying, filing, and data entry; maintain statistics and reports.
