Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma; BS in early childhood education, elementary education, or children’s literature preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience planning and presenting programs for children and families.
• Library experience preferred; ability to work with library customers of all ages.
• Daytime, evening, and rotating weekend schedule as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, push carts up to 75 lbs; operate computer terminals.

Responsibilities

• Provide general reference and readers’ advisory services.
• Plan, promote, and lead standards-based programs for children, birth to teen, and their families.
• Assist customers in locating library materials and using electronic equipment.
• Shelve materials and keep the children’s and young adult areas attractive and orderly.
• Participate in department, committee, and library-wide staff meetings.
• Perform other duties, tasks and special projects as required.
