Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to meet Ocean County Library's Reference Competencies Level I within one year of employment.
• Substitution: Successful completion of one year (30 semester hour credits) in a librarian technician course can substitute for experience.
• Driver's license required only if operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out/renew library materials.
• Calculate and collect fines.
• Register customers for library cards.
• Assist customers in finding materials.
• Answer patron inquiries about hours, offices and personnel, holds on publications.
• Handle daily delivery processing and hold lists; data entry for publicity deadlines.
• Learn and use library systems including circulation and catalog modules; word processing and front desk equipment.
