Job summary

Lower Merion Township seeks a part-time library clerk to serve patrons in the Adult and Junior Rooms. You will handle circulation, reference, reader's advisory, shelving, and phones while promoting library services.

The role requires a high school diploma (some college preferred), library and computer experience, and strong communication and cash handling skills. Day/evening shifts include Monday and alternating Friday/Saturday hours.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; some college desired.
• Library experience desired.
• Knowledge of Adult, Children and Young Adult literature desired.
• Experience in computer operation including Apple products, Chromebooks, and Microsoft Office particularly Word and Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Customer service experience desired.

Responsibilities

• This is responsible library clerical work involving circulation duties, public assistance, processing, and other duties as necessary.
• Provide services to library patrons of the Adult and Junior Rooms including circulation, reference, reader's advisory, processing, phones, shelving, and other duties as assigned.
• Assist with opening and closing the building and processing new materials, unloading deliveries, and shelving.
• Assist with technology use and troubleshooting, including Chromebooks, computers, and e-materials for patrons.
