Job summary

Library of The Chathams is seeking a Part-Time Library Assistant to support the Circulation Department. The role involves charging and discharging materials, handling fines, and assisting with membership duties in a public library setting.

Work hours include Wednesdays 5-9 pm and alternating weekends, with additional hours by mutual agreement. Applicants should email the Circulation Head to apply. Salary is provided on a Good Faith basis.

Responsibilities

• Assists in Circulation Department duties as needed, including charging and discharging library material to users.
• Computes and collects fines, inspects books for damage.
• Reviews library membership applications for completeness and issues membership cards.
• Answers and routes telephone calls.
• Checks on building conditions including stacks, rest rooms and meeting rooms as needed.
• Performs all related duties as necessary.
• Shelving (paging) and shelf-reading duties as required.
• Collects contents of book drops and locks same when indicated.
• Performs other work as required.
