City of Everett seeks a Legislative Aide to manage constituent communications, conduct research, and support City Council operations. The role requires knowledge of municipal processes and discretion in handling inquiries and sensitive information.
Eligibility includes an Associate degree and 1–3 years of related experience; multi-lingual abilities (Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian-Creole) are a plus. Monday evening meetings may be required; this is a regular, part-time position with benefits.

The Legislative Aide manages constituent communications, conducts research, and performs a wide variety of administrative duties related to the effective management of City Council business. This position performs varied and designated duties requiring continuing knowledge of municipal operations and the exercise of some judgment and initiative in responding to inquiries, particularly in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures.
Associate degree in political science, public policy, history, communications or related field and one to three (1-3) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
The Legislative Aide produces accurate, clearly-written work under tight deadlines without being managed closely. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe standard office software is required; must have the ability to quickly learn new municipal programs and software. Ability to conduct independent legislative research and write concise and accurate reports is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, judgement and composure are required for effective stakeholder management and to navigate diverse perspectives. This position requires demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills to schedule, coordinate, post and track multiple meetings, agendas, minutes, and other correspondence simultaneously. Must possess strong analytical and research skills to review and comprehend complex legislation. Knowledge of the City of Everett and the legislative process is preferred; must have interest in public policy and government operations. Multi-lingual skills in Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian-Creole a plus.
