The Legal Researcher will report directly to the Vice President and General Counsel and will assist the General Counsel in a wide range of matters. This position is a generalist position. The Legal Researcher will perform a variety of legal functions, including reviewing a range of contracts, advising on collective bargaining agreements, analyzing campus-wide risks, conducting legal research on a plethora of issues, assisting in responding to public records requests, assisting in training sessions for University personnel regarding compliance and other relevant topics, and other responsibilities as assigned by the General Counsel.

- Assist the General Counsel in delivering effective, accurate and efficient legal advice to the University on the interpretation, application, and enforcement of laws and University policies and procedures.
- Prepare and/or review contracts and recommend proactive strategies and actions to minimize legal risks and ensure legal compliance.
- Review collective bargaining agreements and advise accordingly.
- Prepare responses to public records requests.
- Assist with training the University community on various legal issues.
- Assist with legal questions from campus constituents.
- Other related duties as assigned by the General Counsel.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate Degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experiencein higher education, contract ,and employment law, preferred

This position is a remote, part-time (19 hours per week), non-benefited position. Although this is a remote position, there may be occasions when in-person presence is required. This position is located in Salem, Massachusetts.
