Job summary

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) College of Education seeks part-time Lecturers in Teaching and Learning to supervise teacher candidates in field placements. Appointments are non-tenure track, less than 50% time, and semester-by-semester.

Successful candidates will mentor student teachers in inclusive education settings, perform formal observations, and provide feedback. On-campus teaching is typical, with potential hybrid/remote options under certain conditions.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education or closely related field is required.
• Professional teaching experience is required.
• Experience working directly with children in a classroom setting is required.
• The ideal candidate has a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, JD).
• Previous experience mentoring pre-service teachers is highly desirable.
• Professional experience teaching at the early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary levels is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the interview and selection process of prospective teacher candidates.
• Work with the principal to find appropriate placements for teacher candidates at the school site.
• Attend monthly meetings for UCCS University Supervisors.
• Formally observe each teacher candidate multiple times a semester.
• Utilize video observation tools to evaluate and give feedback to teacher candidates.
• Complete Educator Disposition Assessments for teacher candidates and enter these evaluations.
• Grade teacher candidates’ work submitted in an assessment database.
• Conduct regular visits at the school site to address concerns and provide guidance.
