The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in Structural Design and Engineering to lead a unique joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Spring 2027. The core salary range for this position is $50.75 - $69.79 per hour. This is a part-time, 35% position.

Job description

The USC School of Architecture invites applicants for a part-time faculty position in Structural Design and Engineering to lead a unique joint Civil Engineering and Building Science Design Studio for Spring 2027. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach an upper-level undergraduate capstone design studio integrating architectural, structural, and civil engineering design. The course will include evaluation, design, and analysis of building loads, including gravity, wind, and seismic load. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the state of the art of structural engineering as well as current code requirements, building systems, controls, building standards, and sustainability performance criteria.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to apply appropriate quantitative analysis techniques, (including appropriate software-based analysis tools) in the context of the architectural and engineering design process. Experience with contemporary digital design software tools is preferred. Some experience in adaptation and reusability, including heritage conservation is preferred.

The core salary range for this position is $50.75 - $69.79 per hour. This is a part-time, 35% position.
