POSITION

The Department of Teacher Education invites applications for a pool of part‑time teaching appointments in the Early Childhood Education Credential (ECEC) Program. Candidates selected may be asked to teach a variety of courses in the program, including, but not limited to, literacy, STEM, social justice in education, classroom management, family communication, and clinical practice supervision, with a strong emphasis on play‑based strategies and developmentally appropriate practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach a range of ECEC courses as assigned, maintain current teaching credentials, supervise and mentor teachers and student teachers, and contribute to program development and improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A M.A. degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of highly successful teaching experience in P‑3 grades.
  • Valid California Teaching Credential, Child Development Preschool Site Supervisor Permit, or equivalent from another state.
  • Authorization to teach English learners (CLAD, BCLAD, etc).
  • Prior experience in teacher supervision or mentoring teachers.
  • Detailed knowledge of the California Teacher Performance Expectations for PK‑3.
  • Detailed knowledge of the California Content Standards for all subjects.
  • California driver’s license and transportation.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with adult learners, school administrators, and teachers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to speak, read and write a second language.
  • Administrative experience at a school site.
  • Training on the California Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA).
  • Five years of teaching experience, preferably in various PK‑3 grade levels.
  • Experience delivering teacher training, including modeling lessons for teachers.
  • Prior higher education experience in teacher preparation or coursework development.

COMPENSATION

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the schedule and others normally in Range 2; salaries are prorated based on units assigned.

LOCATION

Stanislaus, Turlock, Central California.
