Job summary

Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is seeking part-time tutors to support students in developing effective study habits and independent learning strategies. Tutors are paid according to education level and work on campus only at Catonsville, Dundalk, Essex, and Owings Mills.

Tutors provide 1:1, small group, and online guidance, reference course notes and resources, and promote study skills. CRLA certification will be pursued through training sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED with nine college credits and a B average in the tutored courses, plus faculty recommendation.
• Associate Degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in courses tutored.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in courses tutored.
• Master’s Degree with 3.0 GPA or higher in courses tutored.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment.
• Provides one-on-one, small group and/or online assistance to students.
• Assists students in learning course content by referring to notes, assignments, and class resources.
• Promotes study skills and learning strategies.
• Visits classes to advertise services provided.
• Documents time spent with each student and identifies material covered.
• Attends training sessions to become CCBC CRLA certified.
• Mentors, observes, and evaluates other tutors as assigned.
• There will be other duties as assigned.
