The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of clean laundry throughout the hotel. This role requires familiarity with hotel laundry items, sorting, folding, inventory assistance, and maintaining quality control of laundry items.
Laundry Operations
Know linen types, sizes, and proper handling for the hotel.
Operate washers and dryers efficiently and safely.
Ensure all laundry equipment is functioning properly.
Remove lint and debris from dryers, filters, and drain traps after each load.
Shake, sort, fold, and iron laundry accurately.
Inspect all items (pillow covers, linens, towels) for damage or stains; discard or treat as needed.
Store laundry correctly and track daily processed items.
Assist with assembling and delivering laundry as required.
Maintain cleanliness of laundry area and equipment.
Support phone/radio communications, maintenance requests, logbooks, and lost & found when needed.
Participate in deep cleaning and other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Adhere to brand standards, emergency, and safety procedures.
Interpersonal Relationships
Engage guests and associates professionally with a friendly demeanor.
Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction and resolve issues promptly.
Assist with training and guiding new associates when requested.
Address guest and associate questions or concerns professionally and creatively.
Report any issues or suggestions to management.
Communicate regularly with all hotel departments to maintain guest satisfaction.
Financial Responsibility
Follow assigned schedule to minimize overtime and missed meal breaks.
The hotel operates in a public business environment with variable indoor/outdoor temperatures. The laundry area can be hot, damp, noisy, and contain equipment and chemicals. Occasional travel may be required for hotel events, meetings, or training.
Knowledge
Understanding of hotel operations and guest profiles.
Familiarity with local area, restaurants, landmarks, and attractions.
Basic reading and writing skills for communication.
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills (listening, smiling, teamwork).
Ability to multitask and remain organized under pressure.
Conflict resolution skills ensuring guest and associate satisfaction.
Abilities

Handle confidential information with discretion.
Adapt easily to change, work well under pressure, and stay composed.
Prolonged standing and walking for 8+ hours.
Ability to climb stairs, stoop, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and push/pull approximately 200 lbs.
Associates must adhere to PHM’s dress and grooming standards (see PHM Handbook, page 16), including wearing a full, neat, clean, and wrinkle-free uniform, practicing good hygiene, and maintaining professional grooming.
