Job summary

Penn State University’s Department of Geosciences in University Park, PA invites applications for a Part-Time Research Supporter to assist with stable isotopes analyses and mass spectrometry in our lab, delivering reliable data and excellent customer service to researchers.

You will operate instruments, support procedure development, coordinate daily lab tasks, manage records, train students, and help prepare data for reports and presentations, contributing to a respectful, inclusive lab culture.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate analytical laboratory instrumentation. Tasks include implementing established procedures and evaluating the quality of analyses using standards.
• Assist in the development and modification of procedures, and standards for lab operations for diverse sample types and research objectives.
• Coordinate daily operations of lab, including purchasing supplies and maintaining standards, scheduling instrument time, keeping appropriate records, training and supervising students and ensure safe practices.
• Help organize data/findings for use in technical reports, documents, or oral/written presentations
