Job summary

Penn State, Laboratory for Isotopes and Metals in the Environment (LIME) at University Park, is seeking a part-time lab technician (16–24 hrs/week) for the IRMS facility. The role involves wet chemistry tasks, sample prep for isotope analysis, and routine instrument maintenance, reporting to the LIME Executive Director.

Qualifications

• Experience or training in laboratory techniques, especially basic wet chemistry.
• Experience in sample preparation for isotope analysis is preferred.
• M.Sc. in a technical field that includes chemistry encouraged.
• Geochemistry coursework or experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning of labware.
• Weighing of samples and standards.
• Performing routine sample preparation using acidic reagents.
• Using and preparing acid solutions.
• Assisting with routine running and maintenance of analytical instrumentation.
