Job summary

The Sil lab at UCSF seeks a Staff Research Associate to support molecular genetics experiments under supervision. You will contribute to projects on host-pathogen biology, performing fungal and mammalian cell culture, infections, microscopy, and protein analyses.

You will assist with lab management, reagent ordering, and coordinating experiments. The role offers learning opportunities in design and optimization of assays and independent projects within a collaborative team at UCSF.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a related science or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work in a team and independently; initiative in designing experiments.
• Knowledge of basic mammalian cell biology processes: protein trafficking, transcription, translation.
• Able to perform standard microbiological techniques including fungal culturing.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab research duties under supervision and training.
• Carry out fungal culture and mammalian cell culture.
• Perform microscopy, molecular biology, and gene expression analyses.
• Conduct immunoprecipitations, protein gels, and Western blotting.
• Handle lab ordering and organization; assist with independent projects.
