Job summary

MercyOne Genesis Davenport is seeking a part-time courier to transport laboratory specimens, mail and supplies between MercyOne facilities. You will adhere to infection control policies, handle chemicals safely, and use courier software to track routes and maintain proper storage temperatures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and a valid driver’s license. Prior courier experience is preferred, with opportunity to learn LEAN processes and participate in team

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED, required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Two years’ experience as a courier, preferred.
• Working knowledge of materials management preferred.
• Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet MercyOne’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire

Responsibilities

• Transports laboratory specimens, mail and other materials and/or supplies utilizing excellent customer service skills.
• Follows established procedures and policies including infection control and bloodborne pathogens.
• Handles chemicals according to established safety protocols.
• Met defined workload productivity standards. Supports and utilizes LEAN principles.
• Utilizes courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document route
• Ensures temperature dependent materials are transported at their required storage temperature.
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.
• Attends and participates in department huddles.
• Follows established policies and procedures to accurately track packages and obtain optimal transport time.
• Participates in teaching peers.
