Job summary

Sur La Table in Madison, WI is seeking a Sales Associate to inspire customers through every step of their culinary journey. You’ll support daily store operations, deliver best-in-class service, and help grow sales by sharing product knowledge.

This role requires engaging with customers, staying current on products, assisting with openings/closings, POS transactions, and contributing to a friendly, inclusive store culture.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older at time of employment.
• 1 year of retail sales experience preferred.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences for customers.
• Maintain product expertise through training and self-driven learning.
• Identify customer needs, recommend relevant products, and foster a guest-obsessed culture.
• Maximize selling opportunities by understanding customer needs and offering solutions.
• Promote add-on sales and support events to grow store traffic and engagement.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals; track KPIs like average transaction value and conversion rate.
• Collaborate with team to maintain a positive, inclusive, high-performing store culture.
• Assist onboarding of new associates with product knowledge and best practices.
• Process transactions accurately using POS; support opening/closing and merchandising.
• Complete inventory tasks: receiving, MOS, and RARs; ensure compliance with policies.
