Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford in Putnam, CT is seeking an Activity Associate - Kid Zone for part-time work supporting child care while parents use the facility.

You will assist with care and supervision of children, help with toys and equipment, participate in play activities, and maintain a clean, safe environment. Training will be provided; CPR/First Aid within 30 days is required. Must be at least 16 years old.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and an understanding of child development.
• Ability to build relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents/guardians.
• Ability to create a positive and supportive atmosphere for learning and relationship-building.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
• At least 16 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Care for children including serving snacks and lunch, bottle feedings, comforting upset children.
• Participate with children in play activities, ensuring high-quality experiences.
• Monitor children’s activities and behavior consistently.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe conditions of toys and materials.
• Communicate problems or concerns to appropriate staff immediately.
• Support a safe, clean environment for staff and members.
• Report any evidence of child abuse to supervisor immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality of information provided by parents and staff.
• Foster friendly, courteous assistance and build professional relationships with parents and staff.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
